The textbook describes a revised edition of a book focusing on the "Pedagogy of Social Sciences," which replaces the older term "Teaching of Social Studies." It highlights the theoretical knowledge and practical teaching skills necessary for effective Social Sciences instruction. The new edition introduces additional chapters that enhance methodological concepts, covering various teaching strategies, e-learning resources, and professional development for Social Sciences teachers. Updated chapters from the previous edition include new sections with pertinent information. The book is intended for B.Ed. and M.A. (Education) courses, as well as in-service teacher education programs organized by education boards. The updated book includes four new chapters and expanded sections addressing key topics within Social Sciences, differentiating it from Natural Sciences and Social Studies, and advocating for the use of "teaching/pedagogy of Social Sciences." Important additions include an exploration of Bloom's revised taxonomy, insights from the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) regarding school education, teaching methods such as survey and cooperative learning, and resources for instructional materials. The chapter on the relationship between subjects has been enhanced to cover correlations in Social Sciences more comprehensively. The text features chapter-end summaries, study questions, and additional resources for deeper understanding and further reading.
